The MedicCast
Providers of emergency medicine are trained to identify S-T elevation myocardial infarctions (STEMI) in the field using heart monitors and 12-lead ECG including other information on patient history. However, some cardiac centers are noticing a large amount of "false positive" STEMI patients coming in. This week's episode of the MedicCast is a discussion on conditions that imitate STEMI and tips for providers on how to differentiate these imitators from the real thing. Also in the show are links to articles for a better understanding on STEMI imitators and EMS in the news.
